Garrett Nussmeier and the LSU Tigers enter the 2025 season with high expectations. LSU’s 2025 season outlook would change drastically if Nussmeier were sidelined, but a Tiger insider says rumors about a major injury are unfounded.

One of the SEC’s most experienced quarterbacks, Nussmeier is entering Year 5 of his college career. The 2024 campaign was his first as the Tiger starter, and he completed 64.2% of his passes for 4,043 yards with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 29-12. He’s the first LSU QB to pass for 4,000 yards and return for the next season.
Nussmeier enters 2025 with buzz as a potential Heisman Trophy winner and/or No. 1 overall pick in next spring’s NFL Draft. LSU opens the 2025 season in a highly anticipated showdown with Clemson. The Tigers hold their home-opener against Louisiana Tech in Week 2 before hosting Florida to begin SEC play.
