If Garrett Nussmeier wants to boost his NFL Draft stock before April, he did a great job of making a case for himself during the first quarter of the Senior Bowl on Saturday.

The former LSU quarterback is suiting up as part of the American team in the annual showcase. He led back-to-back scoring drives as his team opened up a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

With 8:10 left in the opening frame, Nussmeier called his own number. He took a fake handoff into the end zone from three yards out to put the American team on the board first.

Later in the quarter, Nussmeier added a passing touchdown on a pitch to Oklahoma‘s Jaydn Ott.

Nussmeier is currently projected to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. With his 2025 season cut short due to injury, he totaled 1,927 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

That injury hurt his draft stock as he was thought at one point to be in contention to be the first overall pick, thanks to a terrific 2024 campaign. It’s given him something to prove in Mobile, and so far, he’s looked strong.

The Senior Bowl is on NFL Network.
