Gene Chizik explains why Tennessee fans are getting a bit impatient with Jeremy Pruitt

The Tennessee Volunteers are now 2-3 after a promising 2-0 start to the 2020 season. That has fans feeling a bit frustrated with coach Jeremy Pruitt.
The Vols are coming off a 48-17 loss to Alabama — their 14th-straight loss against the Crimson Tide. This one was frustrating because this was supposed to be a season where the Vols closed the gap between themselves and the Tide.
On the SEC Network on Saturday night, former Auburn coach Gene Chizik explained why fans are getting frustrated with Pruitt lately (via 247Sports):
“I think it is concerning to a degree because the optics aren’t great when you list the litany of things you just saw (against Kentucky and Alabama). But I think where people are getting a little impatient … when you take this job as a head coach, here’s what you know you have to do,” Chizik said Saturday night on SEC Football Final. “You have to beat Georgia and Florida in the East, or at least considerably close the gap. Then you’ve got to do the same thing with Alabama in the West. When you take the job Day 1, you know that’s what you have to do. The problem is, they’re 0-8 and they’re getting beat by an average of 28 points a game. To a degree, I do see things happening better in games. But the final results are the final results. That’s where I think people are losing a little bit of patience.”
The Vols are off this coming Saturday, then head to Arkansas before hosting Texas A&M. Those won’t be easy wins for the Vols.
