Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks went to social media on Friday afternoon to address the rumors that he was interested in replacing Scott Woodward as the AD at LSU.

LSU announced on Thursday night that it was parting ways with Woodward in the aftermath of the firing of head football coach Brian Kelly on Sunday night. The school also announced that deputy athletic director Verge Ausberry would be replacing Woodward as the interim AD. That means Woodward’s position is only temporarily filled, and that reality has opened up the rumor mill for other athletic directors like Brooks, especially those at other SEC schools.

Brooks felt the need to immediately address those rumors in a long post on his social media account on Friday that was aimed at Georgia fans.

“Georgia fans — with success often comes speculation, but I want to address it directly. I have not been contacted by anyone at LSU and, more importantly, I have no interest in any other job. My full focus remains on the University of Georgia, our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans,” wrote Brooks.

But Brooks didn’t stop there. The 45-year-old has served as Georgia’s AD since 2021, but he also has strong ties to the state of Louisiana. Brooks is a Hammond, La., native and graduated from LSU before completing his master’s degree at Georgia. And Georgia is where Brooks said he wants to remain, amid all the rumors.

“This is home to me, and I’m honored to play a part in the incredible progress we’ve made together,” Brooks wrote in his statement on Friday.

Here is Brooks’ full statement countering those LSU rumors:
