This offseason, Georgia is losing an all-time great in F Yante Maten, but new coach Tom Crean will have to find a way to overcome that.

However, the former Indiana coach is confident the Bulldogs who are returning to the mix will be able to step up in a big way and keep building momentum for the program.

During an appearance on 960 The Ref on Friday, Crean said he feels the Bulldogs have a solid foundation, complimenting the players’ attitude and work ethic (via 247Sports):

“The foundation’s here but we’ve just got to make sure we’re on top of things every day,” Crean said. “What I like is that there’s an attitude, a hunger with the players. I get back yesterday, we were recruiting all day in Atlanta, get back in the office early evening, and there had to be six or seven guys who came through not only to work out but came through the office. I just got’em to sit down.”

The Bulldogs may have received an NIT bid this season, but decided as a team not to accept a postseason invitation after the firing of coach Mark Fox.

Next season, though, Crean and the Dawgs need to do what they can to make sure they’re playing deep into March in either the NCAA Tournament or the NIT.
