Georgia freshman DB arrested, dismissed

Chad Clay’s Georgia career is over before it began, as the true freshman fromย Suwanee, Ga., has been dismissed following his latest arrest.

The 2016 early enrolleeย was arrested Wednesday for theft, according to Dawg Nation, his second arrest since arriving to campus.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart announced the news of Clay’s dismissal Wednesday:

โ€œUnfortunately, Chad will no longer be a part of our football programโ€ Smart said in a statement.ย  โ€œIt is very disappointing, and we wish him the best in his efforts to continue his education.โ€

Clay, along with defensive lineman and fellow true freshman Julian Rochester, were arrested inย Aprilย after shooting a BB gun in a Georgia dorm room.ย Clay was a three-star signee in the Dawgs’ latest signing class and committed to UGA over scholarship offers from Clemson, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M, among others.
