Georgia freshman RB Kenny McIntosh impressed Kirby Smart in second scrimmage

Once again, Georgia enters the season stacked at running back. D’Andre Swift is getting buzz as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate and Bulldogs fans are excited to see Zamir White. After Saturday’s scrimmage, coach Kirby Smart brought up another ball-carrier: Kenny McIntosh.
“I thought Kenny McIntosh did some good things today,” Smart told reporters. “He continues to improve. He’s got really good balance and he’s been a good blessing. He’s delivered some blows to people.”
One good scrimmage, however, doesn’t guarantee McIntosh will carry the ball in Week 1 against Vanderbilt.
“His value right now is going to be special teams, initially,” Smart said. “He earns more value by how he plays on those teams. I think it’s new for him.
McIntosh isn’t the first blue-chip running back signed by Smart asked to prove himself on special teams first.
“He’s going trough the (Elijah) Holyfield effect, and the (D’Andre) Swift effect, Smart said. “And ‘can I help on these teams, and how do I do it, because I didn’t do it in high school. I don’t know how to block somebody on punt, I don’t know how to cover a kick.’”
The former 4-star recruit out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida signed as part of UGA’s 2019 class.
