One of the biggest absences of the spring for the Georgia Bulldogs was that of junior LB Roquan Smith, who had to miss the spring sessions with an upper-body injury.
That was bad news for the Bulldogs, as Smith led the team with 95 tackles in 2016.
However, according to Macon.com, Smith says he’s back at full strength and is planning on having a big year for coach Kirby Smart’s defense this fall:
โGoing into this year, a lot more things have slowed down,โ Smith said. โIโm back, feeling like Iโm in my prime. Itโs like my style.โ
In addition to being one of the best athletes on the field for the Bulldogs’ defense, Smith added that he wants to be more of a vocal leader as a junior, too:
โIโm just one of those leaders that tells the guys to get going when they need it,โ Smith said. โI love being vocal and being able to be there for my teammates so they can depend on me.โ
If Smith can improve upon his 2016 campaign this fall, he could be among the SEC’s leading tacklers when all is said and done.
