Georgia QB commit ruled ineligible for Texas high school football season

Georgia quarterback pledge Colton Nussmeier, who committed to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs a little over a week ago, has been ruled ineligible for his senior season at Denton high school. The 4-star quarterback was the nation’s top uncommitted QB when he announced his decision on June 5.
Nussmeier, the younger brother of former LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier and son of Saints OC Doug Nussmeier, was ruled ineligible because he transferred from Flower Mound HS to 13-2, No. 23 Ryan HS in Denton for “athletic purposes,” per The Dallas Morning News’ Greg Riddle.
Nussmeier appeared in 8 games and threw for 1390 yards with 12 touchdowns and 1 interception for Flower Mound last season. As it currently stands, he’s rated the No. 200 prospect in the 2027 cycle and the No. 17 quarterback.
Nussmeier rounds out a top 15 recruiting class for the Georgia Bulldogs this cycle, which is good for 4th in the SEC behind only Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Florida. Top prospects alongside Nussmeier include 5-star RB Kemon Spell and 5-star tight end Jaxon Dollar.
