The transfer portal continues to find players new homes, as Georgia reportedly signed former Kentucky running back Dante Dowdell on Monday.

247Sports reported that Dowdell chose Georgia for his fourth college program home in four seasons. Dowdell originally enrolled at Oregon in 2023, headed to Nebraska in 2024 and played at Kentucky in 2025 – rushing for 560 yards and three touchdowns.

In three seasons of action, Dowdell has compiled 1,264 rushing yards and 16 total touchdowns.

Dowdell is only Georgia’s second transfer portal addition so far in the 2026 cycle, joining former Clemson safety Khalil Barnes. The Bulldogs have seven players set to depart via the portal.

Dowdell joins an active Georgia running back room that was bolstered earlier Monday when Chauncey Bowens announced he would return to Athens in 2026. Dowdell now joins Bowens, Nate Frazier, Dwight Phillips and Bo Walker competing for carries at Georgia.

Georgia finished 12-2 in 2025, which included an SEC Championship Game victory against Alabama to earn a No. 3 seed in the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs were ousted in the CFP quarterfinals, though, falling to Ole Miss 39-34 in the Sugar Bowl – an unsuccessful rematch of a Bulldogs-Rebels regular season game that Georgia won 43-35.
