Georgia Southern DB says his team can ‘for sure’ beat Clemson in Week 2: ‘Happy about our odds’

Clemson’s humiliating loss to LSU in Week 1 wasn’t a good sign for fans hoping for a rebound from a 7-6 mark a season ago.
But whatever heat is on Dabo Swinney now, it will get multiplied if the Tigers lose to Georgia Southern in Week 2.
The Eagles, led by former USC head coach Clay Helton, haven’t quite been the class of the Sun Belt over the past several years. They finished with a 7-6 record and a 4-4 Sun Belt record in 2025. They opened their season with a 31-0 win over Charleston Southern in Week 1.
And it looks like Clemson‘s loss has given Georgia Southern some motivation. Or it might be bulletin board material for the Tigers.
“Oh, for sure,” Georgia Southern defensive back Aaron Sears said. “I don’t like jumping the gun, but once I seen some of the things I’ve seen, I was, you know, smiling pretty happy about our odds going into this game this week. Just, yeah, really happy and pumped up for being ready to execute and go handle our business.”
We’ll see if the Eagles can indeed take care of business at Clemson, or if the Tigers can get back on track and ensure the Eagles end up eating their words.
