Georgia WR Talyn Taylor dances through Tennessee State defense en route to 1st TD

Georgia’s Talyn Taylor merely got his feet wet last season, catching 2 passes for 28 yards and failing to reach the end zone during his freshman campaign in Athens.
If last season was getting his feet wet, the Illinois product decided to jump into the deep end right away as a sophomore, without flinching. Forget about that touchdown drought, too, as Taylor found the end zone before the first quarter of the 2026 season had been played.
With 3rd-ranked Georgia already rolling to a 21-0 lead over FCS team Tennessee State of the Ohio Valley Conference, it was time to add on, and Taylor was the guy to do it. On 2nd-and-3 from the Tigers’ 11-yard line late in the opening period, Taylor went in motion from left to right and quarterback Gunner Stockton was all over it.
He found Taylor all alone, and Taylor did the rest, streaking through a few Tennessee State defenders and dancing into the end zone to give Georgia a 28-0 lead with 2:08 left in a first quarter full of highlights for the home team. Sanford Stadium was alive and well in the 2026 season opener, and Taylor was finally on the board in his college career after his touchdown-less 2025 freshman season.
By early in the 2nd quarter, with Georgia up 35-0, Taylor had already eclipsed his catches total for all of last season, as he had caught 3 passes with certainly many more to come in 2026.
