One of the most heartwarming moments in college football is when a walk-on earns a scholarship. Texas linebacker Marshall Landwehr recently earned the honor in dramatic fashion.

Texas alum and Hollywood actor Glen Powell narrated a video revealing Landwehr’s promotion to the team.

“What’s up Longhorns? It’s Glen Powell, fellow Texas Longhorns alum. I have a newfound respect for what it takes to join a football team. It takes grit. It takes grind. Most importantly, it takes heart,” Powell said. “Marshall, your hard work has not gone unnoticed. That’s why Texas is awarding you a scholarship.”

After Landwehr’s teammates exploded with joy, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian lavished him with praise.

“Everybody in this room has a role in this organization. This is the epitome of that,” Sarkisian said. “Dude, I couldn’t be more fired up for you, man. Congratulations.”

Landwehr has been with the Longhorns since 2021 and has served on special teams in recent seasons. Landwehr thanked his teammates for their support during his career.

“Y’all are part of the biggest reason why I show up every day. Been doing this for 5 years. It doesn’t get old,” Landwehr said. “Keep working. This is the dream, man.”
