Greg McElroy broke down what he thinks will happen when old SEC rivals Auburn and Ole Miss get together in a Week 9 matchup on Saturday that will pit 2 teams desperate to get back on the winning track.
During McElroy’s game-by-game breakdown on his Always College Football podcast earlier this week, the former Alabama quarterback turned analyst talked about his impressions of No. 12 Ole Miss (5-2, 3-2 SEC), which is coming off a heartbreaking loss last week at Texas, and unranked Auburn (4-3, 2-3 SEC), which was steamrolled at home in Week 8 by LSU.
The Tigers have been on an SEC roller-coaster ride the past few weeks, winning at Georgia in Week 7 before coming home and laying an egg against LSU in that Week 8 dud.
Meanwhile, there are the Rebels, who nearly erased a 3-touchdown deficit in Austin last Saturday night before falling short to Arch Manning and the Longhorns.

Somebody has to bounce back on Saturday when Auburn invades Oxford for the 12:45 p.m. ET kickoff on SEC Network.
Who will it be? McElroy believes he has the answer.
“I think (Ole Miss) wins the game, 33-23,” said McElroy, who also believes last week’s loss at Texas “took an emotional toll” on the Rebels. “But I think Auburn will keep it relatively close. But it’s going to be totally at the mercy of Ole Miss. If they play clean football, they’ll run away from this thing big.”
But McElroy doesn’t believe Ole Miss will do that. The Rebels win the game, McElroy said, but it’ll be a bit of a struggle as the Tigers stay in the game as a double-digit underdog.
McElroy gave his own impressions on the Auburn-Ole Miss game, but here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about Ole Miss’s chances to bounce back from the loss at Texas and get back in the win column as it returns home:
