Alabama still has a battle ahead to get through their season smoothly. The Crimson Tide suffered its first season-opening loss in 24 years at the hands of the Florida State Seminoles in Week 1.
In Week 2, the Crimson Tide bounced back with their first win of the year, defeating UL-Monroe while looking more assembled and playing up to the “Alabama Standard.” The shutout victory gave the Crimson Tide some needed momentum, but their upcoming Week 3 matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers is shaping up to be a more difficult challenge.
Former Alabama quarterback and ESPN analyst Greg McElroy weighed in on the matchup, noting that the Badgers should not be overlooked.
“I like Alabama, but I would not be surprised if this is a bit of a dogfight there in the first half before Alabama starts to get a little bit more comfortable as the game goes along,” said McElroy on Always College Football.
He expressed respect for the Badgers’ program while still giving the Crimson Tide the edge.
“I like Wisconsin. I think they’re a proud program,” McElroy said. “I think they’ll play hard. I just think Alabama has a little bit too much juice and a little bit more talent at important spots in this matchup.”
With Alabama trying to steady itself after a rocky start to the season, Saturday’s game against the Badgers could serve as a true measuring stick for how quickly the Crimson Tide can return to form.
