Just moments into Day 1 of this year’s SEC Media Days, Greg Sankey was already looking ahead to next year.
The commissioner announced the site and dates for next year’s college football kickoff event. SEC Media Days are going back to Tennessee.
“Next year, SEC Football Media Days in 2027 will return to Nashville, Tennessee, and those dates will be July 12-15,” Sankey said during his opening statement from the podium before taking media questions.

It will be Nashville’s second time hosting the event. SEC Media Days were also held in Nashville in 2023.
Also notable about the return to Nashville is that it continues a recent trend of holding SEC Media Days outside of Alabama. After a long history of hosting the event in the Birmingham/Hoover area, SEC Media Days was held in Atlanta in 2018.
The 2027 return to Nashville marks 6 consecutive SEC Media Days held outside the state of Alabama.
- Atlanta: 2018, 2022, 2025
- Nashville: 2023, 2027
- Dallas: 2024
- Tampa: 2026
When Nashville hosted the event in 2023, the Georgia Bulldogs were the defending national champions. The SEC hopes that one of the conference teams will enter next year’s event as defending national champs after seeing Big Ten teams claim the past 3 titles.
