President Donald Trump held a rally event in Rome, Georgia, on Thursday evening. Starting Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton appeared on stage alongside the Commander in Chief during that event.

“This is a great opportunity just to meet a president, and Donald Trump,” Stockton said. “This is an awesome experience, and I’m just glad to be here.”

While introducing Stockton, Trump called the rising redshirt senior a star.

“Gunner is a big star and a really talented quarterback,” Trump said. “But I heard, much more importantly, he’s a Trump fan.”

Stockton appeared to spend most of the day with the president. He was seen alongside former Georgia running back Herschel Walker welcoming Trump to Georgia as he stepped off Air Force One. Stockton was also on hand during a podcast interview Trump gave to Josh Pate.

A Tiger, Georgia, native, Stockton is entering his fifth season with the program in 2026. He was a full-time starter for the first time in his career last fall, leading Georgia to a second consecutive SEC title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Stockton is 0-2 in his Playoff starts. The Dawgs lost their opening game to Notre Dame in 2024 and lost to Ole Miss in the quarterfinal round this past season.

The president’s trip to the Peach State comes ahead of a March 10th special election in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District.
