Auburn is coming off a bye week and will hit the road for the final time this regular season with a trip to College Station coming up. Should the Tigers take care of business against Texas A&M, Auburn will set up an epic showdown against Georgia on The Plains next weekend.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, Malzahn spoke about his team’s challenge against the Aggies Wednesday during the SEC Coaches Teleconference.

Here’s a summary of what the Auburn coach had to say:

  • Opening statement: “Coming off an off week that I think our team did a good job of getting healthy. Could not have come at a better time… We’ll need to play well to win (vs. A&M).
  • Thoughts on Will Hasting’s? “I’ll tell you what, he’s earned everything since he’s got here. He came in as a kicker but we were short at WR and he caught my eye. Last year he had a good year and this year he’s a guy we try and get the ball to.”
  • On facing off against a dangerous kick return Christian Kirk: “We have to cover better. (Kirk) is an electric kick returner, no doubt.”
  • Depth behind RB Kerryon Johnson? “Starts with Kam Martin. All the guys we have have their strengths. There is a good chance you’ll see all three of them here on out.”
  • Thoughts on Jarrett Stidham, has he been everything you had hoped for? “I think so. When he came in here, he tried to befriend his teammates. He had a great spring, we just knew he needed game experience. He has the respect of his teammates and coaches.”
