Gus Malzahn said before Thursday night’s game at Kentucky that he will honor Steve Spurrier by going visor-less against the Wildcats, instead choosing to donate his signed headgear to charity toward South Carolina flood relief efforts.

Malzahn says he began his coaching career wearing a visor in honor of the Head Ball Coach.

โ€œCoach Spurrier is one of the all-time greats and his influence on me and my coaching style goes back to my days as a high school coach when I started wearing a visor,โ€ Malzahn said, according to 247Sports. โ€œIโ€™m very appreciative for everything heโ€™s done for me and the game of football. Heโ€™s played a large role in making Southeastern Conference football what it is today and will be missed. Going visor-free for tonightโ€™s game is a small way to pay respect to Coach Spurrier and help raise money and awareness for a great cause.โ€
