Former Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves was one of the top prospects that scout were watching at the NFL Combine on Monday.
He posted a 4.50 in the 40-yard dash, which was a little slower than some may have expected.
But according to NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock, that really shouldn’t impact his draft stock all that much.
“You know Vernon Hargreaves to me had a great field day,” NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said during the broadcast. “He didn’t look as good as with the measurables. He ran about a 4.5 (40-yard dash), you know, which is fine. I’m good with the measurables, but what separates him is his footwork and his balls skills.
“So when you talk about drafting a corner in the Top 10, I think everyone would have loved to see him run a 4.4, but I think the tape trumps all that. And I think that the ball skills are so good and the feet are so good that if I’m sitting there between No. 5 and No. 10, and there’s a bunch of teams in that group that need a defensive back, I’d be zeroing in on Jalen Ramsey and Hargreaves.”
Hargreaves also completed 15 reps in the 225-pound bench press portion of the Combine.
