Hugh Freeze is entering a key season at Auburn as the Tigers haven’t had as much success under Freeze as he would have hoped. He is entering his third season, and the Tigers have just an 11-14 record during his tenure so far.

He has faced some scrutiny recently, as fans have been getting calling him out on social media for golfing in his spare time. While he has been answering questions about that criticism, Freeze is still extremely confident when it comes to the team next year.

When asked about what the expectations are for the Tigers this year, Freeze thinks they will be in the conversation to make the College Football Playoff.

“I expect we’ll be in (College Football) playoff run, we’ll be in the discussion,” Hugh Freeze said. “We need the ball to bounce our way instead of against us. The future’s very bright in our eyes.”

The biggest reason why the Tigers have struggled over the last two seasons under Freeze is because of the struggles at the quarterback position. Former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold arrived on the Plains this offseason and he has a dynamic trio of wide receivers now as well. Eric Singleton Jr. transferred in from Georgia Tech last season, where he finished with 56 catches for 754 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Tigers also return two big time sophomore receivers in Cam Coleman and Malcolm Simmons, who combined for 77 catches for 1,049 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Auburn has been solid on defense under Freeze, and if the offense can finally hold up its end of the bargain, then the Tigers may just find themselves playing big games in November. Auburn is +400 to reach the CFP this year, per the latest odds from BetMGM.
