Hugh Freeze hasn’t solved Auburn‘s inability to win games on a consistent basis, but he has zeroed in on 1 of the program’s problems.
After coming up empty yet again in a big spot on Saturday night in a 20-10 home loss to rival Georgia, Freeze didn’t shy away from the cold reality during his postgame press conference. His Tigers had just lost their 3rd game in a row after a 3-0 start to the 2025 season, and they’re sitting at the bottom of the SEC at 0-3.
This particular loss had to sting a little more than the others though, because after road setbacks to Oklahoma and Texas A&M, this 1 was at home, in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry and in primetime. It was a national TV game on ABC, and after taking a 10-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter Freeze’s team froze up. Auburn never scored again, as Georgia ripped off 20 unanswered points, outscoring the Tigers 17-0 in the 2nd half.
“We find ways not to win football games, and that has to change,” said Hugh Freeze to reporters after the latest loss.
Where does Auburn go from here? Well, first off, it’ll be right back in a similar situation in Week 8, when it hosts Mizzou in a primetime game at 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
The Tigers will get another shot in a big spot, at home and at night, and Freeze will hope his struggling team finally finds a way to win a football game.
