The Gamecocks hit the practice field on Friday morning and following the latest day of training camp, South Carolina announced several players have been placed on scholarship for the coming season.

Wide receiver Jalen Brooks, fullback Adam Prentice, kicker Mitch Jeter and punter Kai Kroeger were all been placed on scholarship according to South Carolina.

Brooks, a recent offseason transfer from Wingate, has been garnering plenty of buzz early during camp while Prentice is a graduate transfer from Colorado State. Jeter and Kroeger were members of the program’s 2020 signing class but were delayed scholarships and counted toward the program’s 2021 class.

Following the latest South Carolina practice, Will Muschamp offered up thoughts on his team’s performance following Friday’s session.

“Good physicality of work – I really loved our competitive edge,” Muschamp said in a statement issued by the team. “We ended it with a good third-down period competing against each other. That was really good for our players. We’ve got to continue. We’ve got a long way to go. We’re seeing some guys flash here and there, which we need to have some guys continue to flash.”

Friday was the third practice of training camp and the first featuring pads and helmets.

South Carolina is set to open the upcoming season at home on Saturday, Sept. 26 against Tennessee.
