Alabama backup QB Jalen Hurts didn’t play during the first half of the Crimson Tide’s game against Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon.

Instead, he watched as starter Tua Tagovailoa led the team to a 31-13 advantage heading into the intermission. Then, Tagovailoa tacked on another couple of scores to extend the lead to 45-16 late in the third quarter.

That’s when Hurts came into the game, leading the Tide’s final drive of the third quarter.

Hurts, obviously, faced a tough dilemma going into the season — play in more than four games and burn a potential redshirt year, or save yourself and have two years of eligibility remaining if and when you transfer?

After entering the Texas A&M game late in the third quarter, he has now played in all four games for the Tide this year. That means, if he plays in one more game, he can’t redshirt.

This will be something Nick Saban is asked about this week and we’ll learn next weekend what Hurts’s plan is.
