Ex-Tennessee edge James Pearce Jr. was at the center of a couple of fights during Falcons training camp on Sunday, per multiple reports.

Pearce was selected No. 26 overall by the Falcons in the 2025 NFL Draft earlier this offseason. It seems he’s already made quite the impression on his coaches and teammates during a short period of time in Atlanta.

“He’s as prideful as it gets,” Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbirch said to reporters on Sunday after practice. “When every ounce of your body is trying to prove who you are, it can get a little wacky sometimes. His anger got the best of him at times.”

Pearce has long been regarded as an elite athlete, but his draft stock took a dip after his final season at Tennessee. Some thought he may fall out of the first round entirely before Atlanta took a chance on him at No. 26 overall. In the end, he joined a growing list of Tennessee first-round NFL Draft picks.

Expectations are high for Pearce heading into his rookie season with the Falcons. For better or worse, it seems he’s laser-focused on delivering for the team that took a chance on him late in the first round of the draft.
