Jameson Williams reportedly among 5 NFL players suspended for gambling violations

Jameson Williams, a Detroit Lions wide receiver, is one of 5 NFL players suspended for gambling violations, according to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Williams is reportedly suspended 6 games, while former Ole Miss safety CJ Moore, also with the Lions, is among the players suspended indefinitely, or at least 1 year. Overall, there were 4 Lions suspended, and 1 player from the Washington Commanders.
League policy prohibits players from gambling on NFL games, the draft or other activities, and from taking part in any form of gambling while at a league or team facility or while traveling with the team.
This incident appears to have widespread involvement within the Lions organization.
The Lions released Cephus and Moore on Friday. The team previously fired 4 lower-level staff members in March for violating the league’s gambling policy for employees, the Detroit Free Press reported.
This is the second former Alabama wide receiver to be suspended for gambling violations.
In March of 2022, then-Atlanta Falcons receiver Calvin Ridley was suspended indefinitely for betting on NFL games. He later admitted to placing parlay bets that included wagers on the Falcons to win.
