Jared Curtis receives definitive injury update ahead of Week 5 at Georgia
Once upon a time, Jared Curtis saw himself suiting up for the Georgia Bulldogs in today’s game vs. the Vanderbilt Commodores. That image changed when Curtis flipped his commitment to his hometown school last year. And, unfortunately, it changed for a third time on Saturday morning.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Curtis will not play for Vanderbilt against Georgia in Week 5. The Nashville native has been dealing with an undisclosed injury.
Curtis, who finished as the No. 4 overall recruit in 247Sports Composite rankings, was the second-best QB prospect in the 2026 class. The true freshman passer has had an up-and-down start to his collegiate career, throwing four touchdowns and three interceptions in his four appearances. He has also completed 64.3% of his passes (63/98) for 746 yards.
Blaze Berlowitz, who followed Diego Pavia’s path from New Mexico State to Vanderbilt, will start for the Commodores on Saturday. The senior quarterback has completed 56% of his passes (14/25) for 178 yards this season. He has not thrown a touchdown or interception.
Georgia (4-0, 2-0 SEC) is certainly peeking ahead to its showdown with Alabama in wake of Curtis’ absence. However, that doesn’t mean Vanderbilt is incapable of pulling an upset. The Commodores and Bulldogs kick off at 12:45 p.m. E.T. (SEC Network).
