Javon Kinlaw was selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft back in April and now he gets to reap the rewards of his selection following his outstanding playing career with the Gamecocks.

The rookie lineman from South Carolina agreed to a four-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers worth a total of $15,488,692 and will receive a signing bonus of $8,824,504 according to Spotrac.

If you were unaware, the details of rookie contracts in the NFL are based purely on their draft selection to minimize the level of negotiations prior to the start of the season.

Kinlaw’s journey to the NFL was a difficult one as his mother and his two siblings immigrated from Trinidad and Tobago only to find themselves homeless at one point in his young life. Now the family’s struggles are well behind them as Kinlaw has begun his journey as a professional athlete.

Here is the message Kinlaw posted on Instagram after signing his first NFL contract.

“Grew up Tryna figure out why God put us through so much heartache. He knew I was a soldier. He knew I was solid to the bone. That’s the only reason I even took it this far. Somebody tell my momma I became a millionaire today. Somebody tell her that her prayers was answered. God, I appreciate you big homie. Even though I don’t feel like I deserve it imma keep it goin because that’s all I know. Imma go down a legend for everything I went through and still made it here for this. I appreciate the 49ers organization for letting me chase my dreams and be one hell of a father.”
