Jaylen Henderson is sticking around College Station after all, per On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos.

The quarterback room at Texas A&M had plenty of injuries this season. Max Johnson was the starter up until he suffered a rib injury against Ole Miss. Johnson filled in for the injured Conner Weigman, who suffered a foot injury against Auburn. Henderson started the final 3 games of the regular season, going 2-1 in those contests.

The Aggies haven’t added a quarterback from the transfer portal, so keeping Henderson around was key for Mike Elko. The only QB signee from the 2024 class for Texas A&M is 3-star prospect Miles O’Neill. Johnson has since transferred to North Carolina along with brother and tight end Jake Johnson.

Texas A&M called on Henderson under center 1 final time this season in the Texas Bowl. Henderson suffered a humerus fracture in his non-throwing arm and had to exit. Former 4-star prospect Marcel Reed filled in, but the Aggies fell short 31-23 against Oklahoma State.

The season may not have ended how fans would’ve hoped, but keeping Henderson around is a good start to 2024.
