Jeffery Simmons was a star at Mississippi State, and he has brought that to the NFL. On Sunday, he is having a big game, and he added to that with a huge sack and forced fumble against the Indianapolis Colts.
That was his second sack of the day, and he is trying to will the Titans to their first win of the season.
Despite tearing his ACL while training for the NFL Draft, the Titans selected him with the No. 19 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and he has been a cornerstone player in the league since then. In his six seasons, he has been named to the Pro Bowl four times. He was Second-Team All-Pro in 2021 and 2022, and was named First-Team All-Pro in 2025.
He played at Mississippi State from 2016 to 2018, continuing an impressive run of defensive tackles that included Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs. During his three seasons in Starkville, Simmons finished with 163 tackles, 33 TFLs, and seven sacks.
In his final two seasons, Simmons was named First-Team All-SEC, and was awarded the Conerly Trophy in 2018, an award that goes to the best college football player in the state of Mississippi.
