Jeopardy! contestants regularly have trouble with clues involving sports figures, and the latest example came this week involving an SEC quarterback. In fact, a contestant mistakenly brought in a second quarterback.
On an episode that aired on Tuesday uring the “Tournament of Champions” finals, the contestants faced a category, “First-Time Responses.” The clue was a man sharpening a knife blade on the left, and former Vanderbilt and NFL quarterback Jay Cutler on the right.
Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings presented the clue: “The occupation seen at work on the left, or the pro football retiree on the right.”
Contestant Andrew chimed in, “What is Tebow?” while the other competitors stayed silent.
Along with playing in the SEC, Tebow and Cutler each played part of their careers with the Denver Broncos, however, they typically don’t have much else in common.
