Hurricane Isaias is forecast to make landfall on Friday afternoon. That puts it on track to make its way inland during the afternoon and evening hours — right around when Alabama and Georgia kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
But Alabama-Georgia’s not the only game that could be affected. Ole Miss–Vanderbilt, at 3:30 p.m., and LSU–Kentucky, kicking off in Lexington after 7 p.m., might see weather headed their way as well. On Thursday’s edition of The Pat McAfee Show, The Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore discussed the outlook for Saturday.
“I’m a little bit more worried about Ole Miss-Vandy in Nashville on Saturday because all of that’s coming up from Alabama, okay? All that’s coming north. LSU-Kentucky Saturday night, it’s still coming north. So, I mean, the timing on this stuff is bringing it all north toward you.”
As of Thursday night, Alabama’s athletic department still plans to proceed with the game as scheduled. But there has been one change to the day’s events. Saturday’s edition of College GameDay has been moved from its traditional outdoor location to Coleman Coliseum, the home of the Crimson Tide basketball team.
It’s not the first time the show has been forced indoors this season. In Week 1, lightning in the Baton Rouge area ahead of LSU-Clemson saw it move temporarily to the Student Union Theater before heading back outside when conditions were safer.
