Joel Klatt explains Georgia’s placement in post-spring rankings
College football analyst Joel Klatt released his post-spring top 25 ranking of the best teams in the nation on Monday.
Unsurprisingly, the Georgia Bulldogs were the top SEC team in Klatt’s ranking, coming in at No. 5. Georgia is coming off of back-to-back SEC Championships and is once again expected to contend for the league title in 2026.
Klatt is sticking with the Bulldogs until further notice.
“The SEC still goes through Athens,” Klatt said. “Georgia is going to be a heck of a team.
“If you want to win that conference, if you want to be considered the best team in the SEC, you’ve got to beat Georgia. That’s just the way it’s going to be.”
Klatt highlighted key returning players like quarterback Gunner Stockton, running back Nate Frazier and safety KJ Bolden as being crucial for Georgia’s success in 2026. Klatt has Georgia ranked behind only Oregon, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Indiana.
Over on Kalshi, Georgia is among the favorites to win the SEC again in 2026:
Georgia will open the 2026 season with Tennessee State on Sept. 5.
