Week 4 of the 2025 college football season features a primetime Sunshine State showdown between No. 4 Miami and Florida in the iconic Hard Rock Stadium in the second consecutive meeting between the 2 bitter rivals.
Last season’s matchup was a 1-sided affair as the Canes bludgeoned the Gators 41-17. Many are expecting this season’s meeting to end similarly, given the trajectories both teams have been on over the first 3 weeks of the campaign.
FOX Sports’ college football analyst Joel Klatt discussed the matchup on Thursday’s episode of The Joel Klatt Show, and he summed up the current woeful state of the Florida program perfectly.
“The confidence level for Florida has to be at an all-time low,” Klatt said. “You’ve got rumors swirling about the status of their head coach. The quarterback (DJ Lagway), who is supposed to be the reason you are winning games, is the reason that you lost to LSU. The fear that I would have for Florida is that the very first thing that doesn’t go your way, you have a ‘here we go again’ mentality on the sideline.”
For as bad as the Gators have looked so far, the Hurricanes have looked as impressive as any team in the country on both offense and defense, and Klatt believes that this will be too much for Florida and Lagway to overcome.
“After a week in which he throws 5 interceptions, do I trust him (Lagway) to play clean? The answer is no,” Klatt said. “I think Miami is going to cover the 7.5, and I think that they win this game 24-14.”
Kickoff between the 2 rivals is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
