The Kansas Jayhawks and Missouri Tigers are set to face off in a long-overdue rivalry game this Saturday at Faurot Field.

These two teams share a historic significance that dates back to Halloween night in 1891, when the Jayhawks secured a 22-10 victory over Mizzou. Known as the “Border War” or “Big Rivalry,” it stands as one of the oldest clashes in college football, having been played 120 times before a hiatus began in 2011 when Mizzou joined the SEC.

Now, after a 14-year break, the two teams are set to reignite their rivalry, and anticipation is continuously building. Fans and analysts alike have chimed in, offering their predictions for the game. Among the most notable analysts is Joel Klatt of FOX Sports. On Thursday’s episode of his podcast, Klatt predicted a narrow victory for the Tigers.

“Rivalry, I think it’s going to be a very close game,” Klatt said. “So 6.5 is not quite where I would set the line. I think Mizzou wins the game 34-31. It’s going to be a fantastic game, but Kansas covers the points even on the road.”

Historically, the Tigers lead the series with a 57-54-9 record and have won 3 consecutive home games against the Jayhawks. The last time these 2 teams met on the gridiron, the Tigers walked away with a 24-10 victory.

Saturday’s game is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
