Much has been said about Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns following their loss to No. 3 Ohio State. Some have claimed they were overrated. Others have said they’re just flat-out not good. FOX’s Joel Klatt says Manning and the Longhorns will be “just fine.”
The No. 1 Texas Longhorns went on the road in their season opener to face the defending national champions, No. 3 Ohio State. Texas lost the game 14-7, and Manning did not look great in their opener. In Manning’s first-ever start on the road, he completed 17 of 30 passing attempts for 170 yards and 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Manning looked rough. He was inaccurate, missed throws, and had some bad decisions.
Fans were ready to write off Manning as overrated. However, Klatt feels that if you took the name off of Manning’s jersey and lowered the expectations a few notches, that “he will be just fine.”
Manning’s next game on the road will come on Oct. 4 against the No. 15 Florida Gators. Before that, Manning will get a chance to rebound at home against San Jose State University, UTEP, and Sam Houston.
The Texas Longhorns’ next game is Sept. 6 at 12 p.m. ET against the SJSU Spartans.
