You’d better believe Tennessee fans would go to war for Joey Aguilar.
The former Vols quarterback is tough as nails and gave his all for the Volunteers during his lone season on Rocky Top. Thinking he was set to be the starting QB at UCLA, Aguilar was pushed out of LA as Nico Iamaleava arrived out of the transfer portal from Tennessee. Aguilar then accepted Tennessee’s offer to join the squad in Knoxville, earned the starting job and led the Vols to a respectable 8-5 record with 3,565 passing yards and 24 touchdowns.
On Saturday, via Vols reporter Sam Rothman, Aguilar showed off a new leg tattoo depicting his college football journey. It features the Golden Gate Bridge and the No. 16, representing his start at City College of San Francisco and Diablo Valley CC.
From there, Aguilar’s tattoo shows a winding road that passes a No. 4 in the mountains, a nod to his pair of seasons at Appalachian State. Finally, the road ends at Neyland Stadium with the No. 6.

Aguilar is now with the Jacksonville Jaguars after signing a UDFA deal in April of this year. He’ll be looking to make the Jaguars roster in a room that also includes Trevor Lawrence, NFL journeyman Nick Mullens and former South Alabama QB Carter Bradley, who entered the NFL undrafted in 2024.
Let’s see what Aguilar can do.
