According to Calipari, Onyenso will begin practicing at full-contact this week and he has hopes he will be available when the Wildcats take on North Carolina this Saturday in Atlanta.

John Calipari says Ugonna Onyenso will begin practicing full-contact this week, hopes he’s available vs. UNC
“I’m hoping he’s able to give us something if we need him. We’re playing a team this weekend that’s big. Big players, strong players. It’ll be a challenge.”

Onyenso is one of three 7-footers who missed the start of Kentucky’s season. Zvonimir Ivisic is still awaiting word from the NCAA, while Aaron Bradshaw made his college debut 1 games ago against UNC Wilmington.
Bradshaw played well in Kentucky’s win over Penn on Saturday, and adding depth in the frontcourt would be huge for the Wildcats against a team with as much height as the Tar Heels, even if Onyenso played sparingly last season. We’ll see how much of an impact Onyenso will have if he suits up this Saturday.
