The No. 17 Florida Gators are preparing for their annual showdown against the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs this Saturday in Atlanta, and the quarterback position is likely to be the main topic of concern for everyone in Gainesville leading up to kickoff.
Junior gunslinger Aaron Philo missed the Gators’ Week 7 matchup against the Texas Longhorns with a shoulder injury, and sophomore Tramell Jones Jr. took the reins, leading the team to a massive comeback win on the road.

With Philo rested after the bye week and Jones coming off a monster performance, head coach Jon Sumrall faces a major decision ahead of what will likely be Florida’s most pivotal game of the season. Sumrall spoke to the media Monday morning about the looming quarterback decision, and the first-year head coach said both guys will be available this weekend.
Sumrall also went onto say that he expects to know who his starter will be by midweek, but that he isn’t going to make “some big announcement” regarding who QB1 ends up being for this game or any other game.
Sumrall appears to be playing his cards close to the vest, but whoever ends up getting the starting nod will have to be on their A-game against a ferocious Georgia defense in Atlanta on Saturday.
