With the transfer portal closed for entry, Florida‘s 2026 roster has mostly taken shape. The Gators have begun offseason workouts, and fans were quick to notice that Jon Sumrall‘s staff is doing things a bit differently.
The social media team shared a clip of workouts on Tuesday. One thing that stood out to fans was the lack of the Gator logo on players’ practice gear.

Sumrall confirmed that it is by design. The new head football coach attended Saturday’s basketball game and addressed media members in Gainesville.
“Gotta earn it. Gotta earn the logo,” Sumrall said. “We ain’t earned it yet. We haven’t earned a damn thing. All we’ve got is our name. Where are you gonna put your freaking name on every day? So to wear the Florida Gator logo, to wear the Gators across your helmet and to wear the Gator head, you got to earn that.”
The Gators have started the offseason conditioning drills without logos, Head Coach Jon Sumrall spoke to why this evening.

Sumrall’s squad will be putting on helmets and pads before too long. The Gators are set to begin spring practice on March 3. The team will hold 15 sessions, capped by the Orange & Blue Game on April 11.
