Jon Sumrall shares postgame reaction to Alex Golesh’s pregame comments on their friendship

Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall doesn’t do friendly during game week. Ahead of Saturday’s game with the Auburn Tigers, he basically disowned any “family” that was rooting for the Tigers to beat his Gators. Now that the matchup is in the past, he’s open to restoring friendships.
Following Florida’s 44-39 victory over Auburn, Sumrall took to social media. He quoted a video clip of Tiger head coach Alex Golesh‘s press conference, where Golesh said he and Sumrall “weren’t friends” while preparing to face one another. His response? A fist-bump emoji.
Sumrall’s Gators got off to a hot start on The Plains. Following the opening kickoff, cornerback Cormani McClain intercepted Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown’s second pass of the game to give Florida the ball at the Tigers’ 41-yard line. Three plays later, Jadan Baugh scored a 2-yard rushing touchdown to put the Gators up 7-0.
Baugh, one of the best running backs in college football, dominated from that point onward. He finished the game with 162 yards and three rushing scores, the latter two of which went for 33 yards and 53 yards.
Baugh will have to be at the top of his game next week for Florida (3-0, 1-0 SEC) to remain unbeaten. The Gators host the Ole Miss Rebels (3-0, 1-0 SEC), who just knocked off the LSU Tigers, in Week 4. Kickoff between Ole Miss and Florida is 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 26 (ABC).
