Jon Sumrall shares thoughts on Florida’s offensive line, progress since spring

Florida head coach Jon Sumrall is optimistic about the Gators’ offensive line entering 2026.
Sumrall spoke at length about the topic during a meeting with reporters on Wednesday morning in Tampa. He acknowledged significant improvement since the Gators first took the practice field back in the spring.
“It’s mixing and matching, and we’re not done. We’ll go through training camp and continue to work different groupings. I do feel like we’re way ahead of where we were starting spring,” Sumrall said. “We should be. That’s why you practice. The biggest thing that that group’s done this summer has gotten stronger. You know, I was very underwhelmed with our strength when I got to Gainesville with our off the line, the weight being moved wasn’t up this area where I’m come up with. The guys in that room, they’ve got real comfortable with pushing heavyweight.“

Florida‘s offensive line includes several transfer additions that Sumrall and his staff made after arriving in Gainesville. Most notably, Florida picked up Emeka Ugorji from Stanford and TJ Shannon from Penn State. Harrison Moore (Georgia Tech) is another potential starter up front for Florida in 2026.
Florida’s running game was a relative strength last season. The Gators, led by Jadan Baugh, checked in at No. 12 nationally in rushing success rate in 2025. Florida’s offensive line certainly had a big impact on that success, so there’s a high bar to clear for UF’s new-look OL in 2026.
