Josh Heupel knows the environment at Neyland Stadium for No. 15 Tennessee vs. No. 6 Georgia is going to be raucous.

The Vols welcome Gunner Stockton and the Bulldogs to Neyland looking to extinguish an 8-game losing streak that dates all the way back to the Butch Jones era. Both squads at 2-0 to start the year, though neither have played elite competition to start the season. Until now, at least.

College GameDay is on campus for the top 15 matchup, and Josh Heupel carved out some time to speak with the crew before the storm. He told viewers, “Today’s going to be college football as good as it gets” inside Neyland Stadium.

Here’s Heupel’s full comments:

Heupel awoke a sleeping giant when he started turning Tennessee football around. Truth be told, Vols fans didn’t have much to cheer for before he arrived in 2021 out of UCF, but he turned it around quite quickly. College football fans were reminded of Tennessee’s elite atmosphere in 2022 when the Vols snapped a 15-game losing streak against Alabama and subsequently tore down the goalposts before throwing them in the Tennessee river.

To this day it remains one of the elite gameday atmospheres in the sport’s history. Allow us to jog your memory:

Tennessee and Georgia will attempt to recreate that magic at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Settle in, folks.
