Josh Pate revealed his ranking for the top 10 college football coaches across the past 3 years on Monday, and several SEC coaches cracked the list. Five, to be exact.

Namely, Pate included Georgia’s Kirby Smart (No. 2), LSU’s Lane Kiffin (No. 6), Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer (No. 7), Texas’ Steve Sarkisian (No. 8) and Texas A&M’s Mike Elko (No. 10). Notably, Pate listed Ohio State head coach Ryan Day above both Indiana’s Curt Cignetti and Smart.

Other coaches to crack Pate’s list include Oregon’s Dan Lanning, Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman and Miami’s Mario Cristobal. Here’s a look at his full rankings:

And here’s a look at Pate’s criteria for these rankings.

Considering Pate’s rankings, I still find it tough to not have Cignetti at No. 1 considering the job he just did with Indiana. Cignetti has only been with the Hoosiers for 2 seasons, but he made the College Football Playoff across both years and won the Hoosiers – the Indiana Hoosiers! – a national championship. Perhaps no coach in the modern era has done more with less than Cignetti.

Most of the coaches on this list are included within the 10 best odds to reach the College Football Playoff next year, per Kalshi. Here’s a look at the odds:
