Georgia QB JT Daniels reveals NCAA has made its decision on his eligibility for 2020 season

Great news for Dawg Nation on Monday as USC transfer quarterback JT Daniels has revealed the NCAA has granted him a waiver to play immediately in 2020.
“Thank you to the NCAA for granting me immediate eligibility and allowing me to play football this fall. I will not comment on the waiver or transfer, but look forward to a great 2020 season with my teammates,” Daniels posted on Monday.
Daniels has three seasons remaining of eligibility after appearing in 12 games during his time at USC.
Now Georgia has itself arguably the most interesting quarterback competition in the country heading into the 2020 season as Daniels will compete with Wake Forest transfer Jamie Newman for the right to replace Jake Fromm in the starting lineup.
The southern California native was rated as the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the 2019 recruiting cycle before he decided to reclassify into the 2018 class.
During his brief time on the field in college, Daniels has thrown for 2,672 yards with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He won the job at USC as a true freshman despite the fact he left high school after his junior season of high school and was not able to enroll early at USC in order to participate in spring football.
Daniels was named 2017 Gatorade National Player of the Year, Max Preps National Player of the Year, National High School Coaches Association Player of the Year and USA Today All-USA first team and threw for 12,014 yards, 152 TDs and 14 interceptions in three seasons for California high school power Mater Dei.
Now the big question surrounding Daniels is the status of his health as the former USC starting quarterback was lost for the season after suffering a season-ending injury during the 2019 season opener. Should he be completely healthy heading into training camp down in Athens, there’s reason to believe he’ll challenge — if not beat out — Newman for the starting quarterback role in Athens.
