Julian Sayin’s injury on Saturday during Ohio State’s Week 7 loss to Indiana looks as if it will sideline the Buckeyes quarterback for the foreseeable future.

According to Ryan Day, Sayin is “out indefinitely” after being forced to exit Saturday’s game against the Hoosiers after injuring his throwing arm. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Day said the Buckeyes have a “plan being put in place” as they expect Sayin to miss the rest of the regular season and, if the Buckeyes make it that far, the College Football Playoff.

It’s a massive blow for Ohio State as it will now be forced to adjust to life without one of the nation’s best QBs. Sayin, who finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy vote in 2025, had thrown for 2,007 yards, 19 touchdowns, and just four interceptions in 2026. He also has a pair of rushing TDs. Before leaving against Indiana, he was 15-of-29 for 235 yards and two scores.

Sayin’s injury means that the Buckeyes will turn to true freshman Luke Fahey. The former three-star recruit has seen time in four games, mainly in early-season mop-up duty. He has emerged as Sayin’s backup over redshirt freshman and former five-star recruit Tavien St. Clair.
