The Alabama Crimson Tide usually has a strong contingent of wide receivers on its roster. However, Ryan Coleman-Williams is the team’s only returning receiver who posted more than 500 yards last season. The lack of depth behind him and Lotzeir Brooks made Noah Rogers (NC State) an imperative transfer addition for head coach Kalen DeBoer.

Unfortunately for the Tide, Rogers suffered an injury at Alabama’s A-Day. The leg ailment was supposed to keep Rogers off the field for a significant time, but DeBoer was singing a different tune on Friday. During an appearance on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning, DeBoer revealed Rogers is “much further ahead than anticipated” in his recovery.

This development is great news for quarterback Keelon Russell, who was named the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback on Aug. 22. The second-year signal-caller will get his feet wet versus East Carolina in Week 1 before making his first SEC road start in Week 2 at Kentucky.

Rogers “will miss a few games still,” per DeBoer, but potentially having Rogers back in the fold for Week 3 versus Florida State would be a huge plus for Alabama’s offense.

The Crimson Tide and Pirates kick off their 2026 campaigns on Sept. 5 at 12:00 p.m. E.T. (ABC).
