Alabama star wide receiver Ryan Williams sustained a concussion in the Tide’s loss to Florida State on Saturday.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed Williams’ concussion when speaking to reporters after the game. At this time, it’s unclear how much time — if any — Williams will miss as he recovers from this injury.

Williams suffered the concussion on a play midway through the fourth quarter. After dropping a pass, Williams collided with a pair of Florida State defenders before landing awkwardly head-first into the turf. Williams stayed down and received medical attention before being taken out of the game.

Williams was unable to return to the field, exiting Alabama’s defeat with just 5 catches on 11 targets.

Here’s a clip of the play where Williams suffered the injury:

If Williams misses multiple games, it could be a big problem for this offense. Williams was Alabama’s leading receiver a year ago but struggled to get involved in the offense on Saturday vs. the Noles. Alabama’s other starting receivers, Isaiah Horton and Germie Bernard, could see more usage if Williams misses time.

Bernard had a huge game on Saturday and was perhaps Alabama’s best player. He caught 8 passes for 146 yards in the loss. Horton made 1 catch for 6 yards in his Alabama debut.
