Kalen DeBoer continues to officially bolster his Alabama staff with help from his assistants from Washington. The latest official move came when Scott Huff changed his bio on X to “University of Alabama, Offensive Line Coach.”

Huff was Washington’s offensive line coach since 2017, and he consistently coached at least one lineman to All-Pac-12 honors each season.

Huff worked on coach Chris Petersen’s staff at Boise State in each of Petersen’s 8 years in charge, and went to the UW after 12 seasons at his alma mater. He started 40 games at center for the Broncos between 1999 and 2002, the last 2 years of which Petersen was Boise State’s offensive coordinator.

Huff in 2023 coached the Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line at Washington, the best in college football, and his unit was praised by Aaron Taylor, a CBS Sports analyst and co-founder of the award.

“Washington was on the committee’s radar almost immediately due to their rare combination of physicality and athleticism,” Taylor said. “They got better as the season progressed and consistently stepped up when it mattered. But what seemed to put them over the top was their junk yard dawg demeanor and how they looked to punish and set the tone with their physical style of play. Their level of effort, strain, and physicality is rare for this style of offense, and the voting body seemed to appreciate that.”

In 2022, Huff helped the Washington offense lead the nation in both passing offense (369.8 yards per game) and third-down conversions (57 percent) while also finishing second in total offense (515.8 yards per game). Just one season earlier, Washington finished the season 73rd in pass offense and 114th in total offense.
