Kamario Taylor and Mississippi State got off to an ugly start at Davis Wade Stadium.
There was plenty of hype surrounding Taylor going into Week 5’s game against Alabama in Starkville, with some (specifically Paul Finebaum) saying that he was likely the best Bulldogs quarterback since Dak Prescott.
Now, Taylor will need to lead his team from behind as they’re in big trouble early. Two turnovers have led to two Crimson Tide touchdowns as the Bulldogs found themselves down 14-0 with 8:30 remaining in the first quarter.
After a fumble ended Mississippi State’s first possession, Alabama needed six plays to get into the end zone. The second drive was the result of a bad throw by Taylor. On 3rd-and-5 from the Bulldogs’ 30, he scrambled to his left and threw it right into the hands of Dijon Lee Jr., who took it the other way for the score as the Tide went up 14-0.
Mississippi State, though, scored on their next possession to cut the lead to 14-7, so perhaps the environment got to Taylor a bit early on.
As for the Tide, Kane Wommack’s defense has been buzzing. That was their fourth interception returned for a touchdown this season. Lee joins Yhonzae Pierre, Luke Metz, and Red Morgan on the list of Alabama players with pick-6s in 2026.
